"Don't suffer more in imagination than in reality/ Don't suffer imagined troubles"
Yes, we are prepared for everything, well, so we think. How can one prepare for what they do not know will happen. We do think about the worst-case scenario.
However, one of the most significant stoic figures (Seneca) advises us not to borrow suffering, suffer before we need to, and suffer in anticipation of things. Look at things as they are right now. One of the stoic traits I found fascinating was in Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist when I saw the camel driver not suffering in imagination nor anticipation of possible obstacles. He told Santiago, "When I am eating, that is all I think about. If I'm on the march, I just focus on marching. If I have to die, it will just be as good a day as any other". This is because he did not live in his past or future but in the present moment.
Stoicism has helped me master living in the present moment, hence carpe diem. There is more to life than the past or future; the moment one decides to live and embrace the moment fully, one will realize that life is a party, a grand festival and that there are stars in the heavens because life is the moment we live right now. The phrase, "now or never", has never been this relevant because while we are postponing life speeds by.
Anxiety, worry, and doubt cause one to suffer in imagination more; quite frankly, I don't believe in all these things like anxiety and depression. They do not exist in my world because stoicism helped me master and control what is in my control. It will never bother me or cross my mind if it is not in my control. When I read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, these caught my attention. He said, " Today, I escaped my anxiety. Then he corrected himself and said, "No, I discarded it because it was within me, in my own perceptions, not outside.
My take is all the people who suffer from all the things I do not believe in, stress, anxiety, depression, just to name a few. I am 100% sure that whatever those things made them think they were anxious, stressed or depressed, those things are not within their control. Furthermore, suffering in imagination can make one miserable and unprepared, thus causing the individual to reject the present moment, making people unable to be what they should be doing.
What I find humorous in all this is that all that the people are anxious about and always catastrophizing those things never happen. However, some not nice things are gonna happen in life, but the nightmares of the people and what they tell themselves.😅
Le tlo shwaa le sale bana, Let the present keep you occupied enough because it is in your control. Focus on what is in front of you, be adaptable, and be ready.
If you push forward impulsively, you will fail to see the signs and omens left by god along your path`~ a BONOLO quote..........
